Common Questions

What makes nature-based interventions different from traditional therapy?

We believe that the natural environment provides a rich sensory landscape that supports cognitive and motor development in ways that indoor settings often cannot.

What types of developmental goals do you focus on?

We focus on sensory integration, fine and gross motor skills, social emotional regulation, social skills and executive function. Our outdoor learning approach helps children build confidence through play.

What are the benefits of group therapy for my child?

Group sessions provide a natural setting for developing social skills, peer modeling, and social-emotional regulation in real-time interactions with others.

Are your group therapy sessions suitable for all children?

Absolutely. Our groups are designed to be inclusive, supportive, and neurodivergent-affirming. We adapt activities to meet each child's unique strengths, interests, and support needs while encouraging social connection, confidence, and exploration in a natural outdoor setting.

Because sessions take place in dynamic outdoor environments and operate with small-group ratios, participants need to demonstrate a level of safety awareness that allows them to remain with the group. Children who frequently elope or are unable to stay within the designated group area may require a level of supervision that we are unable to provide in this setting. We are happy to discuss your child's individual needs to determine whether our program is a good fit.

Do you provide individualized treatment plans?

Absolutely. Every child has a unique story. We work with families to develop personalized goals and treatment plans that are tailored to your child's specific developmental milestones and interests.

How do I schedule a consultation?

You can reach out to us directly through our contact form or by booking a call here. We will coordinate a time that works best for your family.

Do you accept insurance for occupational therapy services?

At this time, we do not accept insurance. Our programs offer longer sessions, small group ratios, outdoor experiences, and individualized support that often fall outside traditional insurance reimbursement models. As a private-pay practice, we're able to focus on providing the highest-quality care and meaningful therapeutic experiences for each child.

What is the cost of the nature-based therapy program?

The cost of our program is $2,000 for a 16-week session. This includes individualized goal setting, weekly 90-minute sessions, two progress notes and weekly update emails.

The cost of the evaluation is $50/hour, with most evaluations taking between 2-4 hours to complete. This includes administering the assessments, scoring and completing the written report. Please schedule an informational call if you have additional questions about the cost of the program.

What happens if my child misses a scheduled session?

Regular attendance helps children get the most out of their therapy experience and supports progress toward their goals. Because enrollment reserves your child's spot in the group, we are unable to provide refunds or make-up sessions for missed sessions. If Nature Bound Kids cancels a session, a make-up session will be offered.
